The first phase of the OneLab project, OneLab1, ran from September 2006 to August 2008, and was financed by a grant from the European Framework Programme FP6. The central aim was to establish an autonomous European testbed for research on the Future Internet, which was achieved through the creation of the PlanetLab Europe testbed. Additional aims were to extend, deepen, and federate this testbed: extension to new technologies, notably wireless; deepening through adding monitoring capabilities; and federating with the global PlanetLab system.
